Frequently Asked Questions:
1. My car is due for inspection, when can I schedule my appointment?
You have 3 months, including the month your vehicle is due for inspection, to schedule your appointment. For example, if the sticker on your windshield is 12/11, you can have your vehicle inspected in October, November and December of 2011.
2. I bought my own parts, will you install them?
G & C Automotive is unable to install customer supplied parts due to warranty and liability reasons. We deal with reputable vendors in the area for your parts so we can guarantee the parts that we install on your vehicle. Since we deal with local vendors, we usually have your parts the same day so you can be back on the road in a timely manner.
3. I have an extended warranty on my vehicle. If I bring my vehicle to you, will
that void my warranty?
We can perform repairs and maintenance on your vehicle, even if you have an extended warranty. You should always keep copies of your receipts so your warranty company has proof that you have properly maintained your vehicle. You should also check with your warranty company regarding what repairs are included with your coverage.
4. Can you hook up a machine and tell me what is wrong with my vehicle?
In most cases, there is no such equipment that will tell you exactly what is
wrong with your vehicle or predict what will go wrong with your vehicle.
Through training, education and the use of diagnostic equipment, we are
able to determine what is wrong with your vehicle and suggest repairs to
you.
5. Do I need an appointment for a repair?
It is recommended that you schedule an appointment to guarantee that we
have a technician and lift available.
6. What payment options do you offer?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Debit, or cash. We are unable
to offer payment arrangements for repairs on your vehicle. Payment is expected at time of delivery of your vehicle. We do not accept personal checks.
7. Why does my car need maintenance if it's running fine?
Regular maintenance of your vehicle protects your investment, helps to prevent breakdowns and will minimize the cost of repairs in the future.
8. Why doesn't my registration match my inspection?
As of January 2005, annually inspected vehicles are not required to have
the expiration of the safety and emissions inspection stickers coordinated
with the vehicle's registration expiration.
9. My car failed inspection. If I do the work, can I just stop in and have you put
a sticker on it?
PA state requires that any vehicle failing state inspection be fully
re-inspected once it leaves the inspection station. This means if you
repair your vehicle and return for inspection we are required by law to
to inspect your vehicle again and we do charge a re-inspection fee.
10. My car pulls to the (left or right), will an alignment correct this problem?
A "pull" is caused by the pattern in the tire tread and cannot be corrected
with an alignment. To help extend the life of your tires, remember to
check and reset your tire pressure once a month when the tires are cold
and have your tires rotated every 5,000-7,500 miles. Proper alignment
will also help extend the life of your tires.
